Our Dispatch Center
All calls for service are processed from Communications. The Police
Department currently employs eight (8) full time Communications Dispatchers
and three (3) Part-time employees.
Certified Communications Operators staff the center 24 hours a day 7 days a
week. Their duties include, but are not limited to answering all E-911 phone
calls, answering the police and fire radios, and dispatching all police/fire and
ambulance calls.
Dispatchers have been certified to provided pre-arrival medical instructions to
people calling 911 for certain medical emergencies.
Communications Operators are civilian employees who are trained both at the
State and Local level. All of our dispatchers have completed the State
Telecommunications Training Program as well as in-house training and
assessment.
